I sometimes feel that all of Kamina’s pride in Simon’s skills are overlooked by fans that say that without Kamina’s death, Simon would have been a meek underling of Kamina. I don’t feel this was the case. Through the entire time Kamina was alive, all he did was praise Simon’s skills and try to make him more independent by trying to have him believe in himself just as much as Kamina believes in him. It just feels, to me, that Kamina was trying to make him more independent the entire time but he never forced him to struggle so much that he wouldn’t be able to get himself out of something. (Because that’s what brothers are for, right???) But struggle as much as he knew he was capable of.
I really wish that they had more expansions on their relationship because I can see how it can seem a little shallow if you’re not crazy like I am. I wish that Kamina had the ~guts~ to tell Simon how he felt about him and how much he loves him to his face. I think that would really boost Simon a little bit more and make Kamina more real in a sense as well as more likable. But he showed it in other ways that were just as powerful.
Maybe I just feel like having Kamina die wasn’t the absolute only way Simon could have advanced and grew up. They all needed to do some growing up.
But he did die and I’m 100% okay with that.
~~~if Kamina in anime heaven could see grown up Simon he would be so proud that he finally got the message~~~
